North East Welcomers of Cincinnati

Opening the door to Fun and Friendship

Club History
History of the Club

North East Welcomers (N.E.W.) was established in 1967 to offer newcomers and established residents an introduction to the resources of the North East Cincinnati community.  N.E.W. provides a variety of social activities/interest groups. Our goal is to provide members with the means necessary to be more active in the community while making or maintaining long lasting friendships.

N.E.W. also provides opportunities for its members to take an active interest in the welfare of the community by donating their time and energy to charitable and humanitarian projects within the community.

Dues are $30 per year and are payable by July 1st for returning members. Those who join after January 1st and up to the May general meeting that year pay $15.00. For more information regarding membership, please contact our Vice Presidents of Membership at [email protected]

NOTE: Nonmembers may attend two meetings or activities before joining.

Club Logo

The club logo was designed by one of our own members, Nancy Stapleton.  It was unveiled at our May 2011 meeting.  This is the explanation of the symbolism.

The open door is a sign of welcoming to friends old and new.  Anyone of us could be inside the house or the one being welcomed.

Ivy is Symbolic of Connections and Friendships

Ivy has a propensity to interweave in growth. Ever furrowing and intertwining, the ivy is an example of the twists and turns our friendships often take, but it is also a testimony to the long-lasting connections and bonds we form with our friends over the years.

Another tribute to friendship, as well as the test of time, is the ivy’s ability to grow in challenging environments. The ivy is incredibly durable and can withstand harsh conditions. This is symbolic of our ability to stick by our friends no matter what.
